About Fiig
With Fiig you create live widgets for email newsletters: a countdown that is right at the moment someone opens your email, a poll readers vote on with one click, and a progress bar and stock counter that show the current standing, even in emails you already sent. And more is coming.
Why Fiig
A newsletter is fixed the moment you send it. Except for its images: an email client only loads them when someone opens the email. Fiig makes the image at that moment. So a countdown really counts down, and a progress bar or stock counter always shows the standing of right now.
A form doesn't work in an email, but a link does. So in a poll every answer is a button that leads to a vote page, and the results in the email are a live image again.
The countdown, the poll, the progress bar and the stock counter are here now. More widgets will follow, on the same technology.
Who's behind it
I'm Fred Klopper, a freelance developer in Arnhem, the Netherlands. As Miix I build websites and integrations for email marketing. Fiig is my own product.
The name is a nod to figure, gif and Miix.
The bakery
The bakery in the example on our homepage doesn't really exist. My grandfather, F.J. Klopper, was a trained baker but never had a shop of his own. In Fiig, he does.
How Fiig handles data
- Fiig stores nothing about the readers of your newsletter: no IP addresses and no personal data. Only the total number of times an image was loaded.
- For a poll we only count the votes per answer per day, not who voted. A cookie in the reader's browser remembers the chosen answer, so a vote doesn't count twice.
- The website, the database and the images run in a data center in the EU. Email goes through a server in Paris.
